Credit Risk is the part of Personal and Business Banking that specifically focuses on the Credit Risk Management for all Personal and Business Banking clients. The function of the Credit Risk department is to minimise the risk of loss due to a customer defaulting; to adequately balance risk and reward. Credit Risk is characterised by three main activities within the credit life cycle, namely: Originations, Account management and Collections. Originations relates to the credit decisions taken when on boarding an individual customer or business and can be done either through a scored process with the assistance of a scorecard or through an intuitive process. Account management relates to the ongoing monitoring of each portfolio’s performance within the agreed credit terms whether that be the credit limits, risk appetite or term. Collections activities involve either the rehabilitation of customers who have defaulted and the final recovery of amounts outstanding balances to the Bank. Through a series of structured rotations, you will get exposure to each of these highly analytical areas.

Below are a few areas that fall within the Credit Risk Spectrum that you will be exposed to:

  • Business Lending (Small Enterprise Segment, Commercial Segment, Business Segment);
  • Personal Lending (Home Loans, Vehicle Asset and Finance, Personal Loans & Overdraft and Credit Card);
  • Credit Decision Science (Scorecard Development, Model Development and Data Science); and,
  • Operational Risk.
