A leading Waste Management organization is looking for a Legal Advisor to join their successful team. The incumbent should be an admitted attorney with exceptional contract drafting and commercial/corporate law experience. They will need to come from a corporate environment, having extensive experience in a business as either a contractor, consultant, or a service provider.
The incumbent would need to be a self-starter, enthusiastic, and can handle pressure very well. Top-notch experience with corporate contracts will secure an interview, along with experience in mergers, acquisitions, property transactions, etc.

- Draft, amend, edit and review standard commercial agreements.

- Vet, review and negotiate various commercial agreements over a broad spectrum including the qualification of tender documents (for example service level, leases, IT, off-take, procurement agreements) as well as agreements pertaining to mergers and acquisitions, shareholders agreements, joint ventures and associated agreements.
- Manage various matters such as property transactions, IP matters and the like.
- Provide general legal advice and opinions to senior management on a wide range of matters.
- Facilitate business transactions with a specialized focus on content rights acquisition and intellectual property.
- Provide expertise and advice on legal aspects of corporate decisions, policies and plans.
- Assist with legal and regulatory compliance; dispute resolutions, settlement negotiations and discussions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on the various aspects of the business.
- Conduct legal training.
- Manage civil and commercial litigation as well as dispute resolution.
- Liaise with external legal counsel where necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:
- B.Com, LLB– must be an admitted attorney
- Valid Code 8 Drivers licence

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 8-10 years commercial legal experience.
- At least 4-5 years post articles legal experience, preferably within a multinational company in a similar role. Candidate must have sound corporate experience outside of practice.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Legal research skills
- Solid decision making capability.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks in an energetic environment with multiple priorities.
- Exemplary writing and editing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent communication and analytical skills in both written and spoken English
