The intermediate software developer will be part of a team, responsible for supporting the high availability of systems utilised by our customers and our business. The production support team supports FinChoice’s day to day business operations by working closely with customer support, product, development, finance, back-office and collections teams on a daily basis, resolving incidents and continuously improving our Microsoft .Net and AWS micro-services to minimise incidents and downtime. This position is ideal for an articulate, detailed, and service orientated individual who is a strong developer and enjoys working in a dynamic environment while investigating sources of issues and coming up with different ways of solving or approaching a problem.

The position is based in Cape Town and requires a candidate to be available remotely for incidents/escalations occurring outside of normal business hours

Here’s what you can expect to be doing in the role

  • Contributing the day to day disciplines of scrum and building a happy and effective team
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem solving to identify, understand and fix system failures – this involves going through code and working with various departments to resolve production issues.
  • Assume the role of owning the resolution of all incidents, including triaging issues and post incident monitoring and reporting
  • Assume the role of owning the development of any subsequent system improvements identified during an incident to make our systems better

  • Contribute to improving system monitoring to ensure proactive management of our production environment is transparent and overt.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of support knowledge base repositories to ensure all processes and procedures are documented in a clear and concise manner and that periodic reviews of documentation are conducted.
  • Continuously recognize opportunities for improvement and use initiative to introduce them

Requirements

A little about who you are

  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or computer science
  • One+ year of production support experience advantageous
  • One+ year of experience in financial services, fintech experience advantageous
  • Three+ years of experience in C#, ASP.Net, MS SQL/TSQL, SSIS packages, AWS and Micro Services,
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoys problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Available to work flexible shifts; including weekends and statutory holidays on a rotational basis
