Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a Store Driver for their Gateway Store.To deliver goods to customers in a timely, productive and professional manner while upholding the Dis-Chem quality standards.

Job Description:

  • Safely transport products to customer locations in a timely, safe, and courteous manner
  • Ensure fridge line deliveries are prioritised and transported using cooler boxes and cold packs
  • Use the shortest and most efficient route to the customer and back to the Distribution Centre and/ or
    Store
  • Return to the store immediately after a delivery, so that the vehicle can be utilised for a second or third
    delivery
  • Prevent stock or vehicle damage by repacking the vehicle are completion of deliveries
  • Be fully accountable for all damages and losses throughout the delivery process
  • Provide special care when delivering fragile and hazardous products
  • Comply with minimum standards of efficiency and accuracy, in order to meet Dis-Chem requirements
  • Follow delivery/ pickup instructions from management
  • Ensure that collections/ store returns/ inter-branch transfers are correctly checked, signed for and
    returned to the receiving area
  • Ensure that delivery paperwork is signed upon delivery
  • Have the correct names, contact details and addresses of customers before leaving on a delivery trip
  • Process payments on all transaction via EFT and cash payment options
  • Ensure the vehicle is never left unattended during the delivery process and ensure that it’s regularly
    cleaned and washed
  • Inspect vehicle for any defects and safe operational conditions before, during and after trips and report
    any concerns to the manager
  • Report on all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment
  • Adhere to the road traffic rules and regulations as per the road traffic act and take responsibility for
    any traffic fines allocated to the vehicle being driven
  • Maintain effective and efficient relationships with internal and external customers to improve
    operating efficiencies
  • Establish long-term customer relationships through providing a prompt and courteous service
  • Uphold professional behaviour when dealing with customers
  • Report customer complaints, and requests, and give accurate feedback to management.

Essential:

  • Knowledge of retail operations and administration
  • Finds solutions to potential issues as well as knowing when to escalate the problem
    and what level to escalate it to
  • Comprehending fundamental arithmetic’s like addition, subtraction, multiplication and
    division
  • Conveys ideas and facts verbally using language
  • Addresses customer questions in a timely manner
  • Recognises the need for procedures and follows relevant procedures.

Special conditions of employment:

  • Driver license and own reliable transport
  • South African Citizen
  • Be able to work retail hours
  • MIE, no criminal record and clear credit rating
