The purpose of this position is to manage and coordinate all data-related activities conducted for various studies attached to PrEP delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of research study-specific databases for data entry during the study using, RedCap;
  • Provide oversight of research data collection for the DTHF PrEP studies
  • Develop and implement real-time data quality assurance processes and procedures
  • Regular validation and QC of all study databases
  • Supervise the organization, cleaning, and verifying of complete data entry by research assistants and fieldworkers.
  • Prepare data for use in analyses by International and South African-based investigators.
  • Develop and automate statistical dashboards on project implementation and key study variables
  • Conduct basic analysis including running frequencies, two-way tables, data cleaning and providing weekly and monthly reports on the data collected and progress on key indicators
  • Generate monthly and annual reports for clinical collaborators, researchers, funders and the Department of Health
  • Train and support field-based data collection staff members
  • Line management of FastPrEP Data Administrators (two to three staff)

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in medical, scientific, biological, statistical, computer science, or related field
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience designing a database, managing complex data collection tools running and resolving data queries
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in data quality management
  • A minimum of 1 years of supervisory and staff management
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel and REDCap
  • Experience with statistical packages, e.g. STATA, R, SAS or SPSS
  • Knowledge of research documentation standards
  • Valid Driving license and own vehicle
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail

Advantageous:

  • Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
  • Ability to speak isiXhosa
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of HIV & ART would be beneficial
