MMS is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Legal Officer.  The successful candidate will join a dynamic and highly skilled Legal and Compliance Team.

Specific Role Responsibilities

  • Serving as a legal resource and point of reference on legal and insurance matters, as well as rendering formal and informal legal opinions
  • Maintaining legal contracts data base
  • Draft, negotiate and review agreements
  • Managing litigious matter on behalf of the company
  • Instruct external legal counsel on various matters
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on business strategy
  • Ability to identify and mitigate legal risks
  • Proven track record in providing effective legal counsel and developing contracts that mitigate legal risks
  • Familiar with complaint handling process and corresponding with respective regulatory bodies
  • Ability to draft legal reports 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Admitted Attorney
  • Post Graduate qualification would be advantageous
  • 5 years post qualification experience
  • Financial services background incl. direct exposure to financial legislation
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within Financial Services or Insurance sector insurance legislation
  • Experience or knowledge in Compliance with a focus on TCF, POPI, CPA, FAIS, FICA and Insurance legislation
