MMS is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Legal Officer. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and highly skilled Legal and Compliance Team.

Specific Role Responsibilities
- Serving as a legal resource and point of reference on legal and insurance matters, as well as rendering formal and informal legal opinions
- Maintaining legal contracts data base
- Draft, negotiate and review agreements
- Managing litigious matter on behalf of the company
- Instruct external legal counsel on various matters
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on business strategy
- Ability to identify and mitigate legal risks
- Proven track record in providing effective legal counsel and developing contracts that mitigate legal risks
- Familiar with complaint handling process and corresponding with respective regulatory bodies
- Ability to draft legal reports
Qualifications and Experience
- Admitted Attorney
- Post Graduate qualification would be advantageous
- 5 years post qualification experience
- Financial services background incl. direct exposure to financial legislation
- Minimum of 5 years experience within Financial Services or Insurance sector insurance legislation
- Experience or knowledge in Compliance with a focus on TCF, POPI, CPA, FAIS, FICA and Insurance legislation
