Position Purpose
- To provide technical support and leadership on the SAP Basis system including establishment of standards and requirements, evaluating and directing enhancements, and implementing solutions for performance monitoring.
- To ensure that the SAP transactional system is fully supported, upgrades are undertaken, bug fixes are implemented, and the system remains online and available to the end-user community.
- To lead a team of technical support specialists in the maintenance and support of the Basis environment.
- To have deep knowledge and understanding of Infrastructure environments applicable to the SAP environment including where applicable cloud infrastructure.
- To provide skills and knowledge transfer to junior employees.
Position Outputs
- Perform standby duties after hours to ensure 24/7 application support for business
- Scheduling and monitoring of critical batch tasks and interfaces
- Resolution of BASIS-related incidents within SLA.

- Analysis of incidents to identify trends and improvements required.
- Administer the SAP Transport Management System.
- System installations, upgrades, data refreshes, and correction updates.
- Recommend and schedule software improvements and upgrades.
- Contribute to the Known Error Database. Implement Architectural standards.
- Adhere to governance and best practice processes across ICT SDLC methodology.
- Train, mentor, manage and provide guidance to Junior Staff.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to enhance/improve business processes.
- Analyze and evaluate relevant information to support the decision-making process.
- Produce relevant reports aligned to Outputs.
- Work in Adhering to governance and best practice processes across ICT methodologies.
- Troubleshoot system/application issues to resolve and implement preventative solutions
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with service providers, I.T. departments, team members, customers, and stakeholders.
- Ensure a high-quality predictable service
- Capacity planning and forecasting
- Development Lead Role on Projects.
- Participate in governance and standards workshops to establish principles, guardrails, processes and templates for ITC processes
- Conduct research on emerging BASIS solutions and best practices.
- Continually develop skills in the applicable BASIS technologies as well as staying informed on new developments in those technologies.
- Implement and test software upgrades as per plans throughout the entire.
- Lead a team of technical specialists
Qualifications and Experience
- ND and/or B. Degree in Information Technology Experience:
- 8 Years’ experience in direct or related specialized fields, technical infrastructure and operations support for SAP applications.
- Performed at least 1 new SAP installation and 1 SAP application upgrade
- 5 years experience in managing teams and junior staff
