Port Worker - Transnet TPT Richards Bay MPT

Position Purpose

The provision of labour as directed by the supervisor to ensure a safe and clean working environment or optimized cargo operation in MPT and DBT.

Position Outputs

• Cleaning of operational equipment (such as ship-to-shore cranes’ windows; cranes’ cabins; etc.)
• Inspection of container condition.
• Reefer monitoring operations.
• Opening and Closing of rail wagons twist-locks.
• Loading off-loading and slacking of cargo in compliance with standard operating procedures
• Hooking/ unhooking.
• Tarping/ untarping where applicable.
• Place/ remove dunnage.
• Cleaning of operational areas, rail trucks, plant, workshops, offices, sheds and ablution facilities as instructed.
• Complete applicable documentation i.e. accident reports.
• Identification of correct cargo handling equipment/ gear.
• Shunting out of Rail Wagons When Required In Operational Areas.
• Coupling and Uncoupling of Rail Wagons In Operational Areas When Required.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 / NQF 04

Minimum of 6 months experience

OR

ROC:

• Grade 10 / NQF 02
• Minimum of 2 year's experience
