Position Purpose
- To load, transport and unload all cargo within Transnet Port Terminals through the operation of the correct plant and
- Equipment in compliance with the applicable standard operating procedure in order to optimize the movement of cargo and reduce damages thereby increasing terminal profits.
Position Outputs
- Perform daily tasks on the allocated machines prior to the commencement of work in order to ensure the operational integrity of the equipment.
- Complete daily task sheets, record equipment defects and advise supervisor of defects.
- Replenish fuel and fluid levels of equipment
- Operate allocated equipment in accordance with the applicable standard operating procedure and monitor equipment performance during the performance of the job. Operate front-end loader, forklift and tractor/trailer

- Report accidents or incidents which occur during the performance of duty.
- Ensure correct equipment/attachments are utilised during the performance of duties and change equipment as required to handle changing commodities.
- Perform end-of-shift tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications, Experience & Inherent Job Requirements:
- Matric/ NQF 4
- Code 14 (EC Licence)
- Certificate of competence for each machine operated.
- 2 years relevant driving experience in Port Operations/Maritime Services/Warehouse Tally Number of years with certificates or no formal qualification
- Grade 10 / NQF 2
- Certificate of competence for each machine operated.
- 3 years of relevant driving experience in Port Operations/Maritime Services/Warehouse Tally
