Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in our Manufacturing & Technical department. We are looking for talented individual with relevant skills and experience for a Senior Project Manager role, which is based in Midrand. The successful candidate will report directly to the Capital Project Manager in Midrand.
To design, plan, budget, execute and control Capital Projects in the manufacturing and logistics infrastructure space for CCBSA. Project execution must be achieved by the deployment of resources and processes to deliver the business outcomes within required governance standards. This is done in order to meet business infrastructure investment requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Design and Initiate Manufacturing & Infrastructure capital projects
- Conceive, design, scope and budget projects in the Manufacturing and Logistics space, primarily with capital investment.
- Evaluate solution alternatives based on capital returns (EVA/NPV/Payback), business criticality, technical quality and sustainability.
- Prepare and/or provide input into business case and capital approval documentation for authorisation, up to Board and TCCC Atlanta levels if required.
Value Engineering and Business Case Evaluation
- Assist in the development and implementation of an integrated Value Engineering Process incorporating commercial and functional project engineering management models and processes.
- Evaluate and optimize major capital projects through this (i.e., value engineering process) and assist the wider projects community in using the methodology.

Capital Projects Execution
- Lead key Original Equipment Manufacturer/Supplier/Consulting engagements together with the Production Development Team and Procurement through the processes of scoping, negotiations, performance management and general relationship building.
- Use and adapt proven Project Management tools and practices to Plan, Execute, Control and Close out the initiated projects to deliver the business requirements as set out in the design and business case.
Capital Projects Portfolio Management
- Develop the regional capital 5-year plan and budget, by leading and influencing the investment conversations and decisions with regional and site leadership teams.
- Mange the regional capital portfolio in line with the plan by tracking capital investment progress and expenditure.
- Make decisions related to budget allocation and project execution to meet business objectives.
Stakeholder Management
- Manage engagements with the Central Technical & Projects team, Regional Manufacturing Managers, Plant/Packaging Managers, Site/Regional Engineering Managers.
- Manage interfaces with the Central Planning team, Logistics Services team, Regional Supply Managers, Warehouse Managers.
- Manage External engagements with Industrial Engineering Consultants; Engineering and Project Consulting Engineers; civil, electrical and mechanical contractors; Professional bodies such as the Project Management Institute.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a BSc Engineering qualification.
- A Business Qualification would be an advantage.
- Professional accreditation through Project Management Institute or an equivalent post graduate qualification.
- At least 8 to 10 years’ experience in technical project management, at least 5 of which must have been in food and beverage manufacturing; the skills required for major Capex approval processes and project management and execution must have been effectively demonstrated.
