Job Description

Security measures designed to deny unauthorised access to facilities, equipment and resources, and to protect personnel and property from damage or harm through multiple layers of interdependent systems which include security guarding, protective barriers, locks, access control protocols, and many other techniques as well as ensure the implementation of and adherence to security policies, procedures, objectives and client needs through surveillance.

Key Tasks:

  • Follow work instructions
  • Execute control room duties
  • Work according to applicable policies and procedures
  • Conduct security tasks to required quality standards
  • Conduct ad hoc security assignments such as searches and checks
  • Conduct glovebox clearance
  • Conduct glove and seal checks
  • Clear dispatches
  • Set and check strongroom timelocks
  • Conduct patrols and do alarm tests
  • Handle/assist in emergency situations
  • Conduct surveillance duties
  • Participate in the Mini Business Area (MBA) of the section
  • Do standby duties and respond to alarms
  • Escorts of visitors and contractors
  • Give visitors and contractors induction
  • X-ray machine operation
  • Application of procedures in security incidents
  • Shift work of 8hrs and working overtime when needed
  • People and Process Monitoring
  • Performs focused surveillance activities directed at the detection of physical process anomalies as well as suspicious practices by individuals

  • Formulates behavioural patterns of employees for reference and analysis purposes to identify variation or unusual activity
  • Reviews video alarm/event data gathered by the Video Management System, assessing which alarms were valid unauthorised movements and/or suspicious activity of personnel whilst performing their tasks
  • Monitors and evaluates the diamond process and operating practices remotely by means of the CCTV cameras to identify vulnerabilities
  • Ensures comprehensive, accurate reporting and reliable interpretation of observations
  • Informs local data analyst of identified suspicious activities that requires further review and/or expert analysis

 

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 4 (National Certificate) in Security Management or recognized equivalent. Policing management
  • Registered with PSIRA on grade C Advantageous
  • Valid security clearance (No criminal record)
  • Pass polygraph test

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Security environment or equivalent
  • Experience in security surveillance environment

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of risk management principles and the identification of threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge and application of security access management practices, policies and procedures.
  • Surveillance skills
  • Knowledge and application of surveillance equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and application thereof.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the vetting process (clearance)
  • Appreciation of the impact of security control measures, methods and practices within a corporate/plant environment.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant product security business process.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise daily tasks.
  • Ability to interact with others (personnel, customers, third parties, service providers) and handle difficult/conflict situations.
  • Commitment to procedural adherence.
  • Analytical skills with ability to detect anomalies.
  • Ability to interact with others (personnel, customers, third parties, service providers).
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills and judgement ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be capable of applying investigative techniques and compile detailed reports on incidents.
