An exciting opportunity exists for a Packaging Maintenance Technician at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Isando, Coffee and Creamer. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the high-speed packaging machinery and will be reporting directly to the Maintenance Foreman.
Job Specification:
Key Performance Areas:
- Maintain and support plant high-speed packaging line(s).
- Safely complete all emergency work, routine checks, and preventative maintenance.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment problems.

- Partner with operations, engineering, safety and quality to ensure compatibility of equipment with production needs.
- Evaluate production line processes and help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
- Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Optimize overall equipment effectiveness by improving reliability and availability while minimizing quality defects of the production processes.
- Maintain and optimize critical spare parts inventory.
- Work with contractors to perform required calibrations and validations as assigned.
- Ensure structure is secure and maintained per quality standards
- Work with the broader maintenance team to complete more complicated tasks.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- At least 8 years experience as a technician in high-speed packaging machines and plant equipment maintenance and repairs required within an FMCG environment.
Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Trade tested as an artisan (Fitter or Millwright) at an accredited training facility
- Completed Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or minimum N4 qualification
Additional Requirements:
- Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Pneumatic and Electro-Pneumatic systems
- PLC programming and VSD set-up knowledge is advantageous Knowledge of QMS, HACCP and GMP’s is an advantage
