Grain Field Chickens, a subsidiary of VKB Agriculture (PTY) Ltd, is a dynamic role player in the integrated broiler industry with an abattoir in Reitz in the North Eastern Free State. Job Description

To provide expertise and advice to support the development of operational implementation plans and associated service delivery processes, methods and techniques and to perform, keep track of and report on the financial transactions of an organisational unit in accordance with financial policies and regulations, enabling informed management decision making and contributing to client/customer satisfaction, optimal profitability, reduced risk and compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and analyses of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and process journal entries.

  • Assist with the internal and external audit process.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts and reports.
  • Assist with ensuring accurate month, quarter and year end processing and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with the reviewing of Debtors and Creditors Sub-Ledgers as support for any journals passed.
  • Assist with maintaining the company’s asset register.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, motivation and conflict resolution.
  • Any other duties as may be required by management.

Skills Required

  • Company financial systems and procedures.
  • VAT requirements.
  • Understanding of the different financial reports and documents.
  • Customer and supplier related information.
  • Organisation structure, methods of operation and the inter-relationship between them.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills – written & verbal.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team player.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
  • National Diploma and/ or Advanced Certificate (B. Com Accounting preferred).
  • 3 - 5 years in an accounting role.
  • Financial Skills (Processing of invoices, Payments & Reconciliation of Accounts, working knowledge of Reconciliations).
  • Knowledge of Taxation Legislation, IAS Standards, IFRS and Companies Act will be beneficial
  • Financial management systems knowledge (Sage, Accpac 300, Navision).
  • Must be computer literate – Microsoft Package.
  • A willingness to work overtime where requested.
