Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements


What You'll Be Doing:

MANAGING MAINTENANCE PLANNING & SCHEDULING PROCESS

  • Spares, tools, and materials available for planned maintenance activities
  • Review and manage SAP Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule  
  • Plan and manage maintenance department budget
  • Plan and manage the scheduled outsourced construction work including all shutdown activities 
  • Compile scope of work for external contracts
  • Plan and monitor progress on capex work
  • Prepare monthly maintenance KPI's

MAINTENANCE SUPPORT & PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Provide support to the Engineering, Maintenance & Technical Staff
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are supported (including assisting & allocating resources for breakdown and planned activities to ensure quality workmanship on all maintenance work) 
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements 
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports 
  • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required 
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
  • Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability 
  • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success

BUSINESS SUPPORT 

  • Manage critical spares 
  • Statutory and normal maintenance 
  • Manage SAP PM cycle from start to end
  • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems
  • Review, implement, and update company records e.g., training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments 
  • Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware

BUDGET CONTROL 

  • Input and hold responsibility for maintenance budgets 
  • Prepare the annual Maintenance budget and forecasts 
  • Manage Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. 
  • Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects

What You'll have done before:

Baseline:

  • NQF Level 7 (Degree in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering)
  • Government Certificate of Competency
  • 5 years’ experience in maintenance management
  • Experience in People Management
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance and equipment
  • SAP/ Primavera P6/ Maintenance Management System
  • Financial Acumen and Budget Control

Advantageous:

  • Experience in lubricant manufacturing or in FMCG (Plant Maintenance).
  • Project Management Experience
  • Knowledge for PLC's & Process Control Systems and reliability processes.
