Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Mechanical Fitter in the Engineering Department to be based at the McCain Delmas site, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Superintendent.


PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To maintain plant equipment in good operational condition to ensure:

  • 98 % plant availability,
  • that line rates are met,
  • that equipment functions at the required standards to meet product quality standards,
  • and to minimize waste.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Maintain plant equipment and install all process machinery.
  • Manufacture (turning & milling) critical machine components in workshop.
  • Work to McCain Safety and Food Safety requirements.
  • Maintain equipment to meet and exceed Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) requirements.
  • Ensure equipment set-up aligned to McCain Manufacturing Standards.
  • Draw and record spares and breakdown details through IVARA / SAP.
  • Update and review critical spares requirements and report to Area Leader.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience as Fitter & Turner in an FMCG environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the overhauling of pumps, packaging equipment, conveying equipment, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • General fitting and turning experience.
  • Experience in the Food Industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience with working with hazardous chemicals or MHI (Major Hazard Installation) facility will be advantageous.
