York Timbers Millwright Apprenticeship

A new opportunity has arisen in the Plywood business unit located in Sabie. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the successful candidate will be expected to perform planned maintenance, identify and resolve problems during maintenance, tend to breakdowns and ensure repetitive breakdowns are minimized. Heshe will be expected to conduct fault finding, and also conduct improvement and specialized projects.

The successful candidate will further be responsible for housekeeping and ensuring all tasks are conducted in line with OHS regulations. This individual will work closely with the different production teams to ensure maximum machine availability.

Requirements

• Grade 12 with N2 Millwright trade theory, a valid Section 1326D Millwright trade full three year apprenticeship required certificate and at least five years post experience
• Previous experience in a sawmilling or production environment will be a distinct advantage
• Strong fault finding skills and innovative problem solving
• Knowledge of PLCs Allan Bradley Siemens, SCADAHMI will be an advantage
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Knowledge and experience working with job card systems
• Organised and structured, set high standards to oneself
• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Energetic and able to work independently and make fast effective decisions
• Innovative, sustainable problem solving, proactive, focus on continuous improvement
• Able and willing to work according to a shift system.
