Purpose Statement

  • To recommend strategic changes to credit policy using profit optimisation based decision analyses, at both the portfolio and segmented level.
  • Manage credit risk as the first line of defence, through a focus on understanding the development of bad debt as against Board approved risk appetite targets.
  • Act as the catalyst for Credit profit optimisation to encourage a shared language, way of work and shared tools, across departments involved in target setting and monitoring of the credit life cycle.

Experience

Min:

  • At least 7 years’ proven experience in Credit within the financial services / retail banking industry
  • At least 3 years’ experience in product costing, pricing and profitability measurement as well as related systems, processes and procedures


Experience in:

  • Drafting business plans, presenting and finalising strategies
  • Business analysis: Design and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Managing a team of specialists/professionals

 

Ideal:

  • At least 5 – 6 years’ experience in product costing, pricing and profitability measurement as well as related systems, processes and procedures in the financial services / retail banking

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • A relevant post graduate degree in Commerce
  • A Relevant Professional Qualification in Accounting - Financial Accounting or Accounting - Management Accounting

Qualifications (Either/or)

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • A relevant qualification in CIMA

  • In depth knowledge of Capitec’s Credit Policy
  • General understanding of the Banks Act Capital Regulations, National Credit Act and the implication for Capitec business and the Credit Bureau
  • Strong credit industry knowledge
  • Business analysis experience on a banking system
  • Analytical experience on credit portfolio
  • Bank governance experience (ALCO, Riskco, Credit Committee, etc)
  • Book management – soft and hard collections and pay date management
  • Payment systems (Authenticated Collections, Debit Order and Non-Authenticated Early Debit Order)
