Purpose:
Ensure that the financial records of the business are maintained in compliance with accounting and business practices and done in an accurate and timeous manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management:
- Verifies, allocates, posts, and reconciles all general ledger accounts.
- Produces error-free accounting reports and presents their results.
- Analysis and interpretation of financial information
- Responsible for the preparation of tax computations
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- A point of call for external audit queries
- Being part of ad-hoc projects
- Liaising with divisional financial accountants, managers and directors to gain information to perform duties
- Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Provides financial advice by studying operational issues, applying financial principles and practices, and developing recommendations.
- Maintenance of monthly weighted average shares calculation

Reporting:
- Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Assists the Financial Manager with the closing of all the relevant general ledger accounts to deliver the trial balance monthly to provide information to auditors as well as the preparation of the annual budget
- Compiles statistical reports to external institutions to provide information that assists in ratings against other retailers in the field
- Assisting the FM with the preparation of year-end accounts and providing information for external auditors
- Assisting the FM with ad-hoc finance queries
- Assisting the FM with external reporting to various stakeholders.
- Preparation of quarterly, half year and year end reports for the board of directors
- Compilation of monthly reporting packs and statutory packs at interim and year end
- Preparation of XBRL submission to meet company secretarial requirements
- Assisting with budgets, strategy and accuracy of the group roll up
- Assist with preparation of the integrated report
- Responsible for the preparation of statutory annual financial statements and related workings
- Ensuring timeous submission of information from a divisional level to prepare reports
- Preparation of technical papers on latest technical developments
Requirements:
- Education:
- Newly Qualified Chartered Accountant (must have finished articles and be registered or eligible to register)
Knowledge/ Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft office (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook).
- DAX.
- ERP Systems.
- Retail.
