Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
The Inbound Transport Manager is responsible for the development and execution of strategic inbound transport plans and dynamic load planning using company assets and third-party transporters. This position is a support function that works closely with Production Scheduling, Procurement, Production, Suppliers, and Transporters.
The position will include direct responsibility for all planning and execution of inbound bulk transport plans and intercompany finished goods shipments from Production sites to Heineken Beverages national Mega DC’s. The success of the position will be measured on safety, service; savings and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Sustainability
- Ensure that a safety and sustainability culture is entrenched with transport teams and all incidents, accidents and near misses are reported, investigation and corrective actions implemented and monitored. Sustainability programs are implemented and tracked to ensure targets are achieved.

Operational Results
- Drive and manage inbound planning teams to deliver on targets
- Analyse and evaluate teams performance against inbound planning metrics and provide recommendations and insights to management team and planning teams to improve on the 4 S’s
- Manage planning team load plans to achieve optimal productivity and within the required SLAs agreed with Production
- Manage the reporting and admin processes to enable the achievement of all operational, financial and customer service targets
- Manage the national operational, financial and customer service performance of the Inbound Transport Planning Department
- Input to carrier contract negotiations and compliance
Customer & Relationship Results
- Build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders
- Professional communication, behaviour and actions result in a high level of credibility, trust and respect with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with production facilities for accurate arrival times
Innovation & Improvement Results
- Drive continuous improvement and implement business improvement initiatives
- Share and implement new ideas regarding distribution planning and improving effectiveness of planning systems and processes
Inbound Transportation
- Ensure compliance to Heineken Rules, Logistics Standards, Procedures, local legislation applicable to transport operations
- TMS functional super-user capable of managing systems set-up, training and effective use
- Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with production facilities for accurate arrival times
- Coach Teams in monitoring and improving the transport process execution. Mobilize additional resources when needed.
- Ensure service levels are met to deliver Case Fill Rate (CFR) focusing on the On Time component.
- Ensure service levels are met to achieve truck utilization and payload targets.

Logistics Service Provider (LSP) Management
- Manage the LSP relation and performance according to the LSP management approach in line with our strategy and standards. Collaborate with LSP’s and other stakeholders to identify and roll-out joint-improvement initiatives to improve performance
TPM and Continuous Improvement
- Link to the Transport Pillar, its strategy and control systems, and manage support the Pillar Team, resources and improvement team planning according to TPM methodology.
Management Information Reporting
- Prepares, explains, and follows up on management reports, in line with global reporting standards and/or local requirements.

Job Requirements
Education
- Degree in Logistics or similar

Experience
- Minimum of 7- 10 years’ experience in an FMCG and bulk transport environment
- Routing and Scheduling system, vehicle tracking and telematics experience advantageous
- Working Knowledge of SAP and advanced MS Office experience advantageous
