Position Purpose:
To assist with the implementation of Performance Management & Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) policies, processes, procedures, and systems that will enable the optimal functional support of the People Management Strategy
Position outputs:
- Assist in designing and communicating the Performance Management & SWP strategy and policy, and ensure the embedding of the related processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methodologies and / or guidelines.
- Provide input into the development of Performance Management & SWP policies, processes and enabling systems so that these are in line with the People Management and business strategy and all the relevant legislative requirements.
- Develop processes and standard operating procedures as well as initiatives to ensure that aspirations on Performance
- Management & Strategic Workforce Planning strategies are met. Ensure processes are in line with best practices and meet legal requirements, whilst also addressing business needs and organizational objectives.
- Project manage the implementation of the Performance Management & SWP methodology and other projects or initiatives, so that the objectives as set out in the corporate plan are met within the required budget, time, and quality requirements.
- Ensure effective communication and liaison with various Ports so that they are aware of the Performance Management & SWP management strategies, policies and processes, and facilitate buy in; to ensure their effective implementation within the business units thus facilitating the achievement of economies of scale. This liaison includes obtaining input from the various Ports in order to better understand and take into account the dynamics of operational priorities as well as the provision of assistance in the implementation of the policies, processes and initiatives where required e.g. facilitate co-creation of initiatives.

- Consolidate and ensure Performance Management & SWP data integrity and timely reporting
- Ensure integration of the SWP strategies with Employment Equity requirements for TNPA to effectively attract and retain the required skills into the organisation.
- Manage the development of Performance Management & SWP metrics and analytics to help guide decision making, measure team productivity and ROI across TNPA
- Participate in the development and implementation of the functional and leadership competency frameworks for career pathing so that the development needs of TNPA are met, and business performance is enhanced.
- Drive operational objectives, plans and projects resulting in corrective actions when required.
- Assist the Executive and Senior Manager by contributing to successful cost cutting initiatives on the budget.
- Initiate dialogues and engagements with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, regional, government and industry, as required, to ensure effective internal and external stakeholder management
- Remain abreast of the functional and technological advancements and industry changes in the local market
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management/ Organisational Development/Social Sciences/Psychology/or relevant field
- At least 8 years experience in People Management with at least 3 years in Performance Management or Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Specialist role, of which 2 years must have been at a management level.
- Demonstrate experience in managing the following:
- Performance Management
- Probation Management
- Performance Systems
- Strategic Workforce Planning
- Knowledge of mapping Standard Operating Procedures will be an advantage
- Valid driver’s licence
- Regular travel and regular visits to operational environments
