Mr Price Group Logistics is looking for an experienced Facilities Engineering Manager to join the division. The role will be primarily based at the Mr Price Group Distribution Centre in Hammarsdale.

The Facilities Engineering manager is responsible for overseeing the upkeep of the distribution facility and delegating tasks to their team. They must ensure that the Distribution Center uptime targets are met and maintain a positive work environment while demonstrating good leadership abilities.

  • Oversee the Distribution Centre's operations and ensure its structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental integrity is aligned with the required standards.
  • Lead a team of professionals who install, maintain, and troubleshoot all site mechanisation, including conveyors and material handling equipment.

  • Source and manage suppliers for various functions such as catering, cleaning, parking, premises, security and technology. Keeping abreast of new technology from suppliers and explore future strategic solutions.
  • Work closely with strategic partners and shared service departments to minimise downtime and resolve breakdowns quickly.
  • Supervise the building maintenance teams and sub-contractors to ensure continuous operation, compliance with regulations, and preventive actions.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement programs to align the facility with the Group Distribution and Logistics strategy.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes and additions to equipment and processes to meet the Distribution Centre's needs and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Analyse breakdown data to identify trends and plan proactively, as well as advising the business on how to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the facility.
  • Develop a strategic plan that enables the facilities teams to achieve production targets.
  • Manage the maintenance budget and expenditure for the facilities business unit. Take responsibility for ensuring legal compliance in relation to Fire Installations (ASIB) and full electrical compliance.
  • Coordinate any new installations of site equipment with the Distribution Centre peers to ensure project success and site longevity. Sign off and approve technical installations at completion.
  • Communicate and involve the maintenance/ technical team in achieving key performance indicators through leadership and guidance.
  • Entrench a positive team culture and prepare for future leadership needs by managing and communicating effectively.


requirements

  • Degree in Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering / Millwright / Instrumentation and Control Engineering with strong controls programming experience
  • 7-10 years facilities management experience in a distribution, production or manufacturing environment.
  • Control systems, Project Management, Large scale automation, problem solving, data analysis, team management and budget control.
