ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Security Supervisor: Operations or Risk, the role will provide a security service to the operation by ensuring compliance to security policies, procedures and objectives. Ensure the seamless functioning of security systems, capturing of data and reporting of all incidents to the Security Shift Leader. This role serves as the replacement for the Security Shift Leader in case of emergency or in the absence of the Security Shift Leader.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide security and protection services for personnel, asset and product.
- Responsible for searching and inspecting people, products and/or assets.
- Escorting activities, when the need arises for the movement of personnel in high-risk areas.
- Responsible for perimeter protection and patrols.
- Responsible for security risk identification, during the conducting of day-to-day routine tasks.
- Identify and report security threats and hazards.

- Assist the SSO: Risk with Security risk assessments, when instructed.
- Responsible for alarm reaction and alarm equipment maintenance.
- Responsible for camera and other security hardware maintenance and anomaly reporting.
- Operate and manage all security systems.
- Ensure that all security reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective/sound communication system with the Security Function.
- Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-
compliance issues. - Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report
on non-compliance issues. - Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- National Certificate: Generic Management: Security Management: NQF 5
- A minimum of 2 years security experience in the mining industry.
- PSIRA Grade B.
- Fire Arm competent for business purposes.
- Computer literate (Proficient in MS Office Suite).
- Valid Drivers’ License
OTHER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
- Perform escorting activities as per company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in applying preventative measures and actions with regard to the prevention of company
property damage and theft. - Accurately identify security risks and report timeously.
- Read, interpret and apply all related policies and procedures and the applicable legislative requirements.
- Secure a crime scene.
- Know and understand the relevant security systems, and apply these systems in accordance with Standard Operating
Procedures (SOP's).
