Purpose of the Job

Responsible for shift planning, compliance, and adherence in the CFS Distribution Centre to ensure timely delivery of stock to branches. To effectively manage a team of employees while maintaining productivity, quality, and service levels.

Job Objectives

1. OPERATING RESULTS OF DELEGATED TASKS

  • Achieved Inbound schedule
  • Outbound service level (stock & delivery schedule)
  • Quality
  • Productivity
  • Ensures compliance to procedures
  • Ensure that staff adhere to Health and Safety protocols.
  • Ensure that housekeeping is being done by all departments.
  • Manager shrinkage.

2. MANAGEMENT

  • Shift operational work planning, priority setting and scheduling in order to execute plans received from Planning Manager.
  • Shift operational performance monitoring.
  • People and enabling capacity management / Staff allocation.
  • Manage interfaces with transport shift manager, staffing labour brokers, supplier representative and branches.
  • Resolve escalated operational issues

3. LEADERSHIP

  • Staffing decisions up to the supervisory level.
  • Developing others – focus on functional skills – identify needs and source solutions.
  • Individual performance management.
  • Motivated and discipline team.
  • Talent management / Succession planning.

4. RISK

  • Ensure SHEQ appointments are done per shift.
  • Manage MHE from an I-Sight perspective.
  • Report on rack damages daily.
  • Ensure adherence to standard SOPs.

5. FINANCE

  • Submit a forecast of shift cost taking into account Hours and Rates for all TES staff including straight shift and full time staff.
  • Submit End of shift report (Daily).
  • Authorize overtime documents for TES staff.
  • Daily and monthly reports must be managed and updated..

Qualifications

Essential

  • Matric / NQF level 4 qualification

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain management

Experience

Essential

  • 2-3 years of experience in Logistics/Manufacturing/Distribution/TES or Facilities Management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Distribution Centre processes and systems
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • People management principles
  • Customer service orientation
  • High resilience to stress and assertiveness
