The Logistics Manager is fully responsible for the oversight and functioning of the logistics department, which generally starts from when supplier PO is generated, through shipping and receiving of stock, concluding with the costing of products, and booking of stock.  

The Logistics Manager is a trusted advisor to the Chief Products Officer, the Chief Financial Officer as well as their respective teams and carries a seat on the Leadership Team of the company.

Primary Objectives:

  • SARS preferred importer status to be maintained
  • Entire logistics process to import inventory sourced internationally
  • Entire logistics process for local deliveries from local suppliers
  • Agree and adhere to shipping terms and credit limits with Suppliers
  • Shipping agent management and negotiations regarding pricing and fees
  • Review and confirmation for all shipping agent documentation and rates used
  • Submission of Shipping documentation, Tariff Determination, Accompanying LOA’s and other requirements relating to shipping of inventory

  • Tracking and tracing for local and foreign shipments – both inbound and outbound
  • Ensure SARS, NRCS, ICASA, and other regulatory bodies and regulations are adhered to
  • Scheduling of receiving of stock by the warehouse
  • Preparation of costing per product
  • Booking in of stock on the ERP system, with matching Supplier invoice, PO, shipping and delivery documentation
  • Compilation and review of supplier statements on a weekly basis
  • Assist with vendor validation files and vendor reporting
  • Compiling and submission of all other regulatory documentation, example bi-annual NRCS submissions
  • Preparation and successful completion of external audits, most notably SARS, NRCS and Internal / External Financial Audits
  • Any other reasonable request from stakeholders of the function.

Staff Management

  • Make sure that each objective set to the team is achieved and measured and assess
  • performance of your team on a quarterly basis
  • Lead, motivate, develop and direct your team, making sure that they are adequately equipped to perform their job roles and responsibilities.
  • Make sure that your team is provided the necessary training needed in order to complete their role successfully to their maximum potential.
  • Implement development programs that increase awareness and performance of your direct team

Education/Qualification, Skills, and Experience

  • Bcom Degree, preference in Logistics or Supply Chain Management environment
  • 3 - 5 years’ management experience in a similar role with strong imports experience
