Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee financial and accounting operations of the group entities
- Ensuring SOP are adequately prepared/maintained and complied with
- Identification of system weaknesses and recommendations for improvement identified and implemented
- Managing cash flow and the treasury function of the entity
- Preparation of cash flow forecast and budget, and providing overdraft requirements for the financial year
- Ensuring the process for cash inflows and outflows are completed seamlessly
- Review work of Treasury(Including Equipment Maintenance; Petty Cash controls; Tender Type Maintenance; and Receipt of Monies from stores)
- Review the bank reconciliations and ensure variances/outstanding items are resolved
- Review payments loaded, and authorise when payments can be submitted for release
- Liaise with signatories and ensure all payments are released successfully
- Managing new beneficiaries on the banking system
- Petty cash control and safekeeping
- Forex control and travel expenditure reconciled
- Ensure optimal ROI is earned from excess cash
- Review of budgets vs actual allocations
- Preparing and publishing accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Driving the month-end and year-end closing process
- Review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
- Review the general ledger for accuracy
- Review and assist in the preparation of individual entity monthly management packs for the group
- Review work of accountants
- Assist with audit queries for the group
- Assist HOD in data analytics and marketing (Target Marketing)
- Provide support to any ad hoc queries

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
- Three years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with SAGE 300 is advantageous.
Skills Required:
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively within a team and knowledge-sharing environment
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high-quality of deliverables
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong leadership skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Organizational, planning and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office
- Proficient in general accounting, closing & reporting
