This role is of a legal nature with the direct line of reporting to the Head of Legal and indirect reporting to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities:

  • reviewing legal documents such as, inter alia, trading terms, non-disclosure and non-circumvent agreements, shareholders agreements, distribution agreements, exclusivity agreements, pre-incorporation agreements and memorandums of understanding;
  • drafting a variety of agreements such as, inter alia, profit share agreements, lease agreements, cession agreements, loan agreements, exclusivity agreements, term sheets, distribution agreements, subscription and sale of shares agreements;
  • drafting of ancillary legal documents, such as, inter alia, shareholders’ and directors’ resolutions and share certificates;
  • lodging documents with CIPC, including, inter alia, Trademark applications, enquiry tickets, COR applications, and monitoring and following up said applications;
  • reviewing, updating, and drafting company legal documents such as, inter alia, employee consent form for personal information, protection of personal information manual, protection of personal information policy;
  • conducting research, analysing complex legal matters and presenting findings to key stakeholders;
  • ensuring statutory compliance,

Required qualifications:

  • LLB, BCom (Law) or BA (Law);
  • Admitted Attorney.

Required experience:

  • at least 3 years working experience in a legal department of law firm;
  • commercial experience and drafting - this is a non-negotiable
  • property law.
