Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for managing and implementing the community mobilisation and demand creation strategies for the vaccine programs that include meeting Recruitment targets, Stakeholder engagement and the creation and promotion of demand creation tools in the community.
Technical Work Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge and understanding of Health programs especially COVID-19
- Favourable Stakeholder engagement
- Community engagement and education
- Recruitment of project participants
- Coordination of Recruitment activities
- Facilitate and participate in Community Engagement activities
- Manage Outreach Workers/canvassers and demand creation recruiters
- Data capturing, reporting and record keeping
- Project update reporting and presentation to stakeholders and funders

Duties
- Liaised with Internal and External Stakeholders when necessary towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental goals
- Engage with Stakeholders to maintain positive relationships
- Planned and guided Stakeholder Management
- Formulated Strategies to educate the Community on Research Studies
- Formulated Strategies for the distribution of Community Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Material
- Managed the Recruitment process of potential Study Participants for Research Projects or Patients available for Health Programmes/Services
- Developed and implemented project Recruitment Strategies
- Facilitated and participated in Community Outreach Programmes
- Scheduled Stakeholder Meetings
- Scheduled relevant Event
Requirements
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or Health Sciences
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate for Healthcare workers
Advantageous
- Knowledge of GPP
Experience
- At least 3 years experience in Community Education and Engagement work in health programs
- At least 2 years experience in a related Management position (managing large groups of Non-professional Health Care Workers)
- At least 5 years experience in Community Education and Engagement work in health programs, and in a related Management position, for an incumbent without a degree
- Experience in utilising Recruitment and Retention strategies
- A must is a previous experience in the COVID-19 Vaccination program
