Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
Provide safe secure and timely driving services for the day-to-day operations of the Company, including driving the mobile units to ensure access to HIV prevention and testing services to employees outside the workplace. This position is responsible for the proper running and maintenance of the vehicle.
Technical Work Responsibilities
- Maintenance of Company Vehicle
- Provide safe transport services for all business requirements
- Manage the maintenance of the company vehicles and units
- Assist with any other activities at the testing sites as per line management
- Assist with HIV and TB testing
- Drive vehicle for official travel and business, or as requested
- Implement punctuality and safe transport sound navigation skills
- Observe road and traffic laws and regulations
- Adhere to safe driving practices including local driving codes and internally agreed standards
- Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturers' specifications
- Logbook maintenance
- Log official trips, daily mileage, petrol consumption, oil changes etc

Duties
- Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders when necessary, towards the achievement of company and departmental goals
- Provide safe transport services for all business requirements
- Manage the maintenance of the company vehicles and units
- The vehicle is clean, tidy and in excellent working condition at all times
- The vehicle is always secure
- Daily maintenance checks: fuel, oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
- Arrange for any necessary repairs and services, manage the vehicle spare parts inventory list
- Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring reports, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, fuel and oil consumption
- Manage the Logbook
- Performs all routine maintenance and interior cleaning services for the mobile unit
- Implement punctuality and safe transport sound navigation skills
- Observe road and traffic laws and regulations
- Adhere to safe driving practices including local driving codes and internally agreed standards
- Conduct TB symptom screening on all clinic attendees utilising the Department of Health standardised form of TB screening
- Identify TB suspects and record them in the TB suspect registers
- Refer TB suspects to counsellors for voluntary counselling and testing for HIV
- Provide pre-test and post-test counselling (if required)
- Perform HIV testing (if required)
- Verify identified TB suspects have been investigated for TB
- Assist with participant flow and the set-up at the site
- Adhere to the relevant procedures with regard to participant confidentiality
- Manage TB suspect register
- Timeous reporting on all project activities utilising predefined indicators
- Perform quality control on recording and reporting procedures including checking data collection tools for accuracy
- Assist with the stock take of medical supplies
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Identify areas of development and implement approved recommendations
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed legislation
- Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
- Adhere to decision-making procedures

Education
- High School diploma/Gr 12 (NQF Level 4)
Experience
- 3 years of driving experience
Requirements
- Valid code A Driver’s license
- Valid Professional Drivers Permit (PDP)
- Understanding of specimen handling and transportation
- Fluency in local languages (Zulu, Setswana, English, SeSotho, Xhosa, Afrikaans)
- Practical experience with Road Legislation
- SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
- Willing to work overtime
