We are looking for a Fire Prevention Officer to coordinate and supervise the activities of permanent on-site service providers (POSP) and off-site service providers (OSSP) (high, medium and low risk) on-site in a safe manner
Reporting to the Specialist: Fire and Emergency Response, the role is expected to coordinate and supervise all fire, safety, and emergency functions and activities as specified according to fire, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. To design, evaluate and coordinate emergency preparedness and response at RBM.
Ensuring standards regarding fire and rescue management and firefighting equipment maintenance, This includes and is not limited to:
- Attend to all emergencies which might arise within Richards Bay Minerals
- Ensuring that the company’s HSE policy is fully implemented, maintained, and monitored as appropriate.
- Ensure an effective fire prevention system is in place.
- Ensure risk assessment is conducted on production areas and non-production areas
- Carry out monthly inspections of equipment and maintenance systems to ensure compliance and availability.
- Conduct fire surveys on a monthly basis and month-end reports
- Manage maintenance and statutory inspections of emergency and safety equipment
- Lead emergency management operational shift

What you’ll bring
- Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI/TUT) or (FPASA)Diploma Fire Prevention
- Fire prevention certificate (or relevant)
- Fire risk assessment course
- Incident investigation
- Fire Investigation Certificate (Added advantage) or (RCAT)
- Valid South African Driver’s Licence
- 5 years experience in HSE, fire, safety and emergency function.
- Fire Fighter 1 and 2 (Accredited by SAESI)
- Hazmat awareness and first responder (Accredited by SAESI)
- Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA)
- Basic Computer Literacy is a must
- Rope Rescue Certificate
- Knowledge of fire systems SANS 10139 ( Added advantage)
