Job Description

The Senior Accountant Operations is responsible for remaining up to date with key performance and financial matters at an operational level and providing support to corporate governance and financial control. The individual will develop a deep understanding of the KPIs and cost drivers that impact the Operations’ business performance. Utilising this and financial analysis techniques, the individual will provide insights and trends and have the ability to challenge the Operations’ on critical business issues impacting the day-to-day performance of the Operations for consideration of senior stakeholders.

This role is in the Finance Department at a Band 5 level reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

Certificates to be attached with the application:

• An Accounting degree or similar
• Strong financial knowledge; experience in the resources/ mining industry

Knowledge and Skills

• At least 5 years of experience in a financial or analytical role within the resources industry
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Presenting to and engaging with senior management and external stakeholders
• At least 5 years experience in a financial or analytical role
• Advanced Excel
• SAP

• Essbase / Hyperion advantageous
• Knowledge of financial and equity markets
• Ability to influence opinion at the senior level
• Strong creative thinking and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality products within a tight deadline
• Comprehension of price-sensitive information and consequences of potential miss-use
• Skills in financial analysis and modelling
• Monitoring of benchmarks and identification of performance gaps
• Presentation skills for meetings with all stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills needed to interact with analysts & investors
• PowerPoint and Excel skills for the analysis required for internal and external materials
