Job Description:
The GIS/CAD Supervisor (Mine Geological Systems Supervisor)
Delivers specialist support and service solution to the Mineral Resource Management (MRM) Technical specialists by means of Computer Aided Draughting and Geographic Information Systems, whilst staying abreast of the latest technological advancements and mining best practices.

The focus areas for this role will be to:
- Develops and maintains the GIS/CAD database for optimal use and prepares maps and GIS/CAD documents as required
- Oversee inspection and QA/QC of compliance with all relevant Group standards and Legal requirements pertaining to draughting
- Compiles and maintains statutory and non-statutory mine plans (maps) and other graphical products required for a mine or project
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of GIS/CAD technology, software and hardware
- Compile, analyse and evaluate various MRM-related data for graphical use
- Identify areas of potential improvement in spatial data analysis and its potential to add value
- Update working plans on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis. (e.g. Geological mapping, Survey Offsets & Measured faces, etc.)
- Compiling and maintaining the Draughting Calendar aligned to the Business Plan and Operational Processes
- Prioritising and time management of activities/tasks
- Adherence to the Draughting Calendar and assigning of tasks to Draughting team members
- Ensuring CAD best practices are executed
- Identifies and recommends new technologies to support efficient operations
This role is a D1 level reporting to the MRM Systems Analyst
Qualifications:
You will need the following:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Chamber of Mines Survey Draughting Certificate
- GIS Qualification
- Advanced Mine Survey Certificate (advantageous)
- Tertiary CAD Qualification (advantageous)
Experience
- 5 Years’ experience in a Draughting Office
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Mineral Resources environment (advantageous)
- 1 Year of supervisory role experience (advantageous)
- Experience in working with point clouds (advantageous)
- Experience in working/ managing GIS systems (advantageous)

Skills and Knowledge
- Microstation and/or AutoCAD
- MineRP CAD
- ArcGIS
- Datamine/Leapfrog
- MS Office proficiency
- Knowledge of Geology, Survey, Rock Engineering, Planning and Ventilation.
- In-depth knowledge of Chapter 17 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act no. 29 of 1996).
- Knowledge of Resource and Reserves Reporting (SAMREC Code)
