Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements


The Group is focused on providing specialist-orientated, multidisciplinary services across the continuum of care in such a way that the Group will be regarded as the most respected and trusted provider of healthcare services by patients, medical practitioners, funders and regulators of healthcare in each of its markets.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To minimise the financial risk of the organisation by proactively managing risk and ensuring maximum collection of outstanding debt.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Proactively manage and address financial risks.
  • Collect outstanding debt within the set benchmark.
  • Ensure client satisfaction with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of available resources to achieve optimal efficiencies.

Essential Education

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 with Subjects Accounting / Economics/Maths or Grade 12 with relevant working experience

DESIRED EDUCATION

  • Certificate in Accounting/ Finance

Required Experience

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • None

Desired Experience

  • Experience as a Credit Controller or within a similar environment

Required Job Skills And Knowledge

  • Financial knowledge (e.g. reconciliations, debits and credits, adjustment journals, etc.)
  • Competence in relevant ER24 credit control systems (i.e. SAP).
  • Proficiency in Excel (e.g. searches, filter, workbooks, etc.)

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding funder contracts, and the application thereof
  • Understanding of medical aid, assistance company, corporate and branch agreement requirements and the application/ implications thereof
  • Knowledge of, and consistently acts according to ER24 & Mediclinic policies and procedures (e.g. Patient Confidentiality, Discount, Unassigned payments, Bad debts, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the relevant aspects of legislation w.r.t the ER24 Patient Administration environment (e.g. Medical Schemes Act, Workman’s Compensation Act, National Credit Act; Consumer Protection Act, Protection of Personal Information Act, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the account submission process, follow-up process, managing overpayments, and management of bad debts
