POST: Section Commander: Investigative Psychology

LOCATIONS:  Provincial Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management:

  1. Cape Town, Western Cape - Ref Number: FS 204/2022 
  2. Durban, KwaZulu-Natal - Ref Number:  FS 201/2022
  3. Polokwane, Limpopo - Ref Number:  FS 202/2022
  4. London / King Williams Town, Eastern Cape - Ref Number:  FS 200/2022
  5. Johannesburg, Gauteng - Ref Number:  FS 203/2022

LEVEL OF REMUNERATION:  MMS Salary Notch R850 983 per annum (All inclusive) - Colonel

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the provision of forensic psychology input to investigators dealing with Psychological Motivated Crimes (PMC);
  • Manage and coordinate the provision of advice and assistance to investigators dealing with Psychological Motivated Crimes (PMC);
  • Manage and coordinate the provision of forensic psychological evidence and courtroom assistance;
  • Manage and coordinate liaison with experts in related fields for investigative purposes;
  • The effective and efficient management includes the utilization of all physical and human resources allocated to the immediate post the environment in accordance with relevant directives and legislation.

Generic Minimum Requirements:

  • Applicants must display competency in the core functions of the post;
  • Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;
  • Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Record Data Base on NQF Level 4;
  • Applicants will be subjected to avetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification;
  • Must have criminal record or pending criminal/ departmental cases;
  • Computer literacy, interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills;
  • Be in possession of at least a valid light vehicle driver’s license.

 

Additional Post Requirements:

  • Be in possession of a Master’s degree (accredited by SAQA on at least a NQF level 9 or higher level) in Clinical Psychology,
  • Be registered with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist (proof of paid-up fee for 2022/2023 must be submitted) with at least four years’ Forensic Psychology or Clinical Psychology experience.
  • Must have at least three years of managerial/supervisory experience in the field of the post.
