Job Description: Responsibilities, Qualifications, and Necessary Skills


POST: Senior Social Worker (Warrant Officer)

LOCATION: Employee Health and Wellness: Social Services, Humansdorp, Eastern Cape

LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: Band B1, R300 345 per annum

REFERENCES: ECA12/22 (1 post)

Core Functions:

  • Render the advance and complex Police Social Work Services work-focus assessments
  • Render comprehensive occupational social work to the client system by  means of Social Work Service’ capacity building programmes (promotive-, work-person- and workplace interventions)
  • Render comprehensive occupational social work services to the client system by means of Restorative Interventions
  • Render comprehensive occupational social work services to the client system by means of the application of the Social Work Community Model
  • Implement the multi-disciplinary approach interventions within the Employee Health and Wellness environment
  • Execute standard social work administrative practices.

Generic Requirements:

  • Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
  • Be (proficient) in at least two official languages, of which one must be English;
  • Must be a South African citizen;
  • Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license;
  • Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal/departmental or civil cases;
  • Must not have tattoo/s marks which will be visible when wearing the SAPS summer uniform (Police Act posts);
  • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY FOR FCS POSTS WILL SERVE AS AN ADVANTAGE.

  • MountAyliff: Preferable Xhosa Speaking
  • MountFletcher: Preferable Sotho Speaking
  • PortSt Johns: Preferable Xhosa Speaking
  • Uitenhage:Preferable Afrikaans Speaking

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least NQF 4
  • At least a 3 year Degree in Social Work Degree (accredited by SAQA on at least a NQF level 7 or higher level);
  • Registration with the South African Council of Social Service Professions (SACSSP) and submit proof of paid up fees for the 2022/2023 financial year
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience as an Occupational Social Worker will be an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policies prepared to work in a multi-disciplinary team, and be the ability to market Social Work Services will be an advantage
  • The successful candidate must be willing to travel and attend courses when required and must be medically, physically, and mentally fit.
