Position Purpose:

  • Ensure the development of content to communicate Transnet initiatives internally and externally, and to support the language diversity within the Company.
  • Writing, editing, content management and promotion of language diversity within Transnet, and the provision of editing support for readability, logic, sentence structure, spelling, accuracy, content, grammar and style, and proofreading of documents before publishing.
  • Ensure compliance with the Languages Act of 2012.
  • Support Corporate Affairs in executing its communication strategy.

Position outputs:

  • Provide active support for Corporate Affairs (CA) in the execution of roles and responsibilities.
  • Comply to the requirements of the Languages Act to ensure language diversity throughout the Company.
  • Embed language diversity within the business in terms of the Official Languages Act.
  • Ensure that all communication activities are executed in a timely manner and in accordance with the requirements and specifications of the organisation.
  • Provision of editing, reviewing and proofreading support to CA and Transnet departments.
  • Editing and managing content for various Transnet platforms.
  • Serve as a sub-editor to CA and other Transnet departments.
  • Use commercial and creative knowledge to translate strategic objectives into compelling creative articles.
  • Implement effective plans and procedures to ensure strategic plans are implemented.
  • Ensure the development of content that will assist to communicate Transnet initiatives internally and externally including building a brand identity and online presence through the creation and dissemination of multimedia content online.
  • Support content strategies, managing content and dissemination, growing the Transnet online presence and tracking growth/feedback with the production and multimedia team.
  • Liaise with all stakeholder engagements as defined in the departmental communication strategy plans.
  • Standardise and contribute to the publications of Transnet.
  • Ensure best practice by doing continuous research.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Communication/Journalism preferable in languages, journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 - 8 years’ experience in language services and editing functions within a large and complex organization.
  • Requirement to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act, Amendment 19.
  • Understanding of POPIA Act and relevant legislation.

  • Driver’s license Code 08.
  • Travel as required and approved.
