General Miner - Gold Fields

The role of General Miner is crucial in ensuring the safe management and coordination of the crews within the tramming section and to ensure daily targets are safely achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure health and safety of persons and conditions within the section
• Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Ensure that working places are maintained in a safe condition
• Ensure that daily production targets are met safely
• Ensure effective availability and utilization of equipment and materials
• Promote and develop team effectiveness within the department

• Enhanced understanding of tramming and related activities
• Ability to promote teamwork and team cohesion
• Understanding of the principles of (P.O.L.C) – Plan, Lead, Organise and Control.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be in possession of Grade 12/N3 Qualification or Equivalent
• Be in possession of a Blasting Certificate
• Be in possession of a Shift Supervisor Certificate (Advantageous)
• Have 3 years experience in blasting and tramming operations in an RBE (Rail Bound Equipment) environment
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
• Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment.
