Job Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of Job:

  • The SSO will be responsible to recognize security risks associated with Company's Corporate Office and Supply Chain Centre, Airport Industria and to establish minimum security and loss prevention standards and core competencies to safeguard company product, people, assets, information, and reputation against those with malicious intent.

Safety, Health, and Environmental Effectiveness:

  • Identify and report safety, health and environmental incidents and risks
  • Undertake safety risk assessments,
  • Influencing contractors to follow practices consistent to Company safety and environmental policies.
  • Ensuring contractors follow practices consistent with company environmental, safety and health performance and compliance.

Financial

  • Assist in compiling the Security budget by providing information based on operational security and organizational requirements.
  • Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure
  • Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.

Internal Business Processes

  • Conduct security risk assessments at company Corporate Office and Golf Park & Airport Industria
  • Create a culture where security is internalized resulting in a reduction in security incidents and opportunities for loss.
  • Implement security operational plans to quantify and mitigate risks and in so doing, ensures an effective asset protection philosophy.
  • Managing security contracts to maximize operational financial performance and to ensure that the supplier comply with the contract and meet the goals of the contract.
  • Reviewing, Implementing, and exercising Security SOP’s at company Corporate Office and Airport Industria
  • Sustain security effectiveness through the development and implementation of Security Group Standards and the Security Maturity Model.
  • Managing the recovery of diamondiferous gravel, complying with the Kimberley Certification Scheme, Diamond Act 13 of 1999 (Namibia), Diamond Act, 56 of 1986 (RSA), Company policies and procedures. (SCC, Atlantis, Contracting sites)
  • Capture and manage information related to security incidents, risk management, investigative and law enforcement environments on CiMMs.
  • Establish a formalized and auditable process and program for the implementation of The Group Security Clearance Standard GS-STD-14.
  • Manage the process for the application of Police Clearance Certificates for company personnel applying Namibian work permits, Work Visas and Restricted Area Permits.
  • Manage the process for the application of Transnet Port Authority (TNPA) access permits to the Port of Cape Town for company employees and contractors.
  • Implement operational plans in accordance with the company Security Plan and Group Security Strategy.
  • Access Management and Administration, complying with Group Access Standards
  • Manage visitor inductions
  • Manage, control, reconcile access cards
  • Babylon System Administration
  • Manage physical searches of persons and baggage
  • Freight Handling
  • Administer security processes to manage goods, vehicles, and equipment
  • Implement security SOPS’s to manage freight
  • Inspect goods, equipment delivered and leaving sites
  • Optimization of security systems and technology.
  • Ensuring security equipment is properly operated, tested, calibrated, and maintained.
  • Manage alcohol and drug related testing and issues

  • Manage security responsibilities in emergency situations
  • Develop and manage a formal post event review plan aligned with the risk and information gathering priorities
  • Focus on review of selected people, processes and/or areas either routinely or in response to detected anomalies or events.

Customer and Stakeholders

  • Develop a climate to facilitate teamwork.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to achieve company objectives.
  • DBM
  • DBGS (Management and personnel of SCC Cape Town Airport Industria, SCC Johannesburg, SCC Port Nolloth)
  • Contract Security companies (NEVETEK, Thorburn, G4S)
  • South African Police Services (SAPS)
  • Private Industry. E.g., delivery contractors
  • DBGS Contracting companies

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma in Security Risk Management or Diploma in Criminology or NQF 6 equivalent.
  • Registered in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act, 56 of 2001, A Grade

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a maritime/mining security environment /supply chain environment
  • Knowledge of the Kimberley Certification Scheme
  • Knowledge of Diamond Act 13 of 1999 (Namibia), Diamond Act, 56 of 1986 (RSA)
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977
  • Company Security and Supply Chain policies and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of Group Security Standards
  • Knowledge of Security Risk Management
  • Knowledge Supply Chain Management.
  • Proven background in Contract Management
