BDO South Africa has a vacancy for an IT Security Administrator within the Information Technology Department, in its Johannesburg offices. The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for providing support for the IT Security and infrastructure team. The administrator will implement network security policies and procedures in accordance with the ICT ITIL Framework. Adhering and comply to the National ICT service strategy. Align with best practise disciplines, governance, ethics, risk standards, policies and compliance for the firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Security Administrator will inter alia be responsible for:

  • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions.
  • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
  • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans
  • Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behaviour.
  • Monitoring and reporting on network performance
  • Administration of national firewall firmware updates
  • Providing remote and site security support to all BDO South Africa offices
  • Providing support to third party vendors, suppliers and service providers.
  • Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
  • Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.
  • Training staff to understand and use security protocols.
  • Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.

 

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • A+, N+, Server+, ITIL V3/ITIL V4
  • NQF Level 6 IT related Qualification

Qualifications Desirable

  • NQF Level 7 or higher
  • MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, MCSA: Windows Server
  • CISP Qualification will be beneficial

 

 Experience required

  • 3 - 5  Years' network/server experience
  • 6 Years’ experience in a Support role with an end user base not less than 1000 users
  • Experience in information security or related field
  • Experience with computer network penetration testing and techniques
  • Experience supporting ERP and CRM applications
  • An excellent working knowledge of ITSM tools and workflows.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills (Ability to breakdown complex problems into logical pieces)
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft End User Computing, Networks and dependencies.
