The main purpose of the role

To provide an export airfreight service to our clients within the air export team, keeping all customers up to date on the movement of their cargo at all times.

  • Person must be organized and be able to manage a portfolio of clients

  • Airfreight Export Experience (minimum 3 years)

Duties and Responsibility

  • General understanding of the industry and related job requirements for freight forwarding.
  • Ability to manage clients, meet with them, discuss challenges on shipments and handle any client correspondence both telephonically, on email and in person.
  • Liaising and pro-actively communicating with clients throughout the process.
  • Ability to escalate where required to the relevant parties and maintaining a good working relationship with all various teams and departments.
  • Pro-actively communicating and resolving queries or delays for clients
  • Managing clients KPIs / performance on a monthly basis and productivity of own desk
  • Making special arrangements / involving the right level of individual to support on critical shipments.
  • Support in after hour monitoring and tracking and tracing with carriers, arranging specials on weekends or facilitating communication and feedback on weekends.
  • Resolving client and routine queries professionally and timorously
  • Managing costs effectively and carefully.
  • Doing all export invoicing and managing rates etc.
  • Involvement with Implementation of new accounts that fall under your specifications area of work
  • Tracking shipments from collection to warehouse, delivery to carriers, departures, arrival and deliveries in destination countries where applicable.
  • Overtime when applicable
  • Manage Negative WIPS/ open accruals / open negative accruals.
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Admin work will be applicable
  • Able to work without constant supervision
  • Able to work under pressure

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Intermediate computer literacy level in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Cargowise understanding and previous experience (beneficial)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Airfreight
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in freight forwarding
  • Must have knowledge of Export Air Process
