The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide strategic leadership and manage performance to create a dynamic organisational culture that will develop all staff members to implement national and provincial traffic law enforcement strategies and legislation.

This post is based in Metro/Westcoast/N7.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide effective leadership;
  • Evaluate the activities of regional operational plans to ensure alignment with the strategic plan, budget statements, national and provincial strategies;
  • Coordinate the collection of regional law enforcement statistics;
  • Provide research input;
  • Assist with the formalisation of policies and development of new strategies or models to improve service delivery;
  • Provide operational leadership and mentoring of regional role players regarding strategies, developments and trends;
  • Manage and coordinate the human resource processes, budget processes and utilisation of assets in the region.

Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher);
  • A minimum of 7 years working experience in the field in Traffic Law Enforcement of which 3 years must on management level;
  • Registered as a Traffic Officer or Peace Officer;
  • A valid driving license (Code B or higher); No criminal record.

Recommendation

Driving Licence Code A and EC.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following:

  • Relevant legislation ;
  • Overload control management; Impoundment procedure and process;
  • Departmental administrative processes;
  • Fleet management.

  • Computer literacy.

Remuneration

The all-inclusive salary package of R 744 255 per annum (Salary level 11).

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.

MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
