We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description:
As a Medium-Term Mine Planning Engineer, you will provide Technical Services as required and your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with Development of Medium Term (5year, budget, 12 months) schedules and mine plans.
- Provide technical expertise and input to short Term Planning.
- Meeting mining objectives and conform to KIO mining standards, geotechnical and operational physical standards to ensure safe mining operations within legislative guidelines.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health, and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives to enhance mining processes.
- Managing internal and external relations, to ensure that business needs are met.
- Managing a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
- Keeping environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.
This role is in the Technical Services department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Section Manager Long Term Planning
Qualifications:
- BEng – Mining Engineering or BTech
- Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)

Experience:
- 3 Years Operational experience in Open Cast Mine Planning and related operations
- Good understanding of the mine value chain and affected stakeholders
- Experience in a Medium and/or Long term plan development process would be advantageous
- OPMS/RPM & Deswik planning software experience would be advantageous
