This is a one-year full-time contract for a driver position, with Stellenbosch University's Department of Paediatrics & Child Health, based at the Worcester Campus of Stellenbosch University. The contract is renewable depending on performance appraisal and funding.
The Department of Paediatrics & Child Health, in collaboration with Columbia University, USA, will conduct a clinical trial to evaluate the effects of synbiotics on infectious morbidity, growth and biological measurements in infants who are HIV exposed uninfected (HEU). The operational aim of the study will be to recruit, enroll, and follow up on maternal and infant participants.
This project will entail working closely with staff at various institutions. The driver will have two pivotal roles: 1) Safe transportation of study participants to the study site; 2) Assisting the clinical team when needed. It will be expected from the driver to work across studies.
Duties/Pligte

Assisting the research team in notifying participants about their appointments on-site;

Transporting staff to different areas for recruiting of study participants;

Transporting pregnant women, mothers, infants, and young children to and from the site;

Assisting with tracking participants;

Transporting biological samples to the Tygerberg campus if needed;

Transporting biological samples to NHLS, Worcester;

Collecting stock from suppliers and Tygerberg campus when needed;

Taking responsibility for the study vehicle;

Keeping a daily transport log;

Assisting the clinical team in general operational tasks.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

A South African Senior Certificate, or an equivalent secondary education qualification;
-
Experience working in a clinical setting with caregivers and children;
-
The ability to work independently as well as within a team;
-
Residing in Worcester or Breede Valley area;
-
Excellent knowledge of the Breede Valley;
-
A valid driver's license;
-
A skilled driver with an excellent driving record;
-
Fluent in English, Afrikaans, and/or isiXhosa;
-
Computer literacy.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
