To determine the operational level of safety that the prospective and approval holder is capable of achieving and does in fact achieve in actual operations. Through evaluation (assess), monitor (conduct periodic and unannounced surveillance) of compliance to continuing airworthiness standards of an aircraft. Issuance of recommendations towards processing or suspension of licenses and certificates in the following areas
a) continuing airworthiness of aircraft and parts thereof;
b) approval of maintenance organizations;
c) maintenance certification of air operators;

- maintain the national civil aircraft register and make the information from the register available, when needed;
- evaluate and accept air operator’s mass and balance programmes;

- periodically review the airworthiness records of aircraft on the State’s aircraft register to assess the adequacy of their maintenance and status of aircraft and the competence and diligence of the persons and organizations who perform the maintenance;
- Analyze and investigate significant defects discovered in aircraft and determine corrective action to be taken where airworthiness may be affected and correct any trends, where necessary;
- Monitor the implementation of the ADs and/or related SBs issued by the manufacturer (both foreign and domestic) to ensure air operator’s compliance to the continuing airworthiness of aeronautical products with an established procedure to avoid or correct service difficulties;
- Provide assistance to the Engineering, or evaluate the design and suitability when qualified, of aircraft components and equipment and their approval for use in aircraft, and assess and approve the installation of aircraft components and equipment;
- Evaluate and approve or accept MCMs, maintenance procedures manuals, and where no separate licensing division exists, aircraft maintenance training organizations’ curriculums;
- Investigate possible violation of the regulations in regard to airworthiness and take appropriate enforcement action, when necessary;
- participate in type certification board activities;
- participate in maintenance review board activities for newly type certificated aircraft;
- prepare and distribute to the public documents containing all issued MCAI and airworthiness advisory material; and
Reports;
- Report with recommendations on the outcome of site visits and inspections.
- Research, develop and propose specific standards to be applied in the area of certification, airworthiness, and maintenance of aircraft.
- Issue special flight permits.
- Communication and Safety Promotion;
- Propose defect and airworthiness directives contributing to the prevention of accidents and incidents.
- Address Industry stakeholder problems/queries in an exemplary manner.
- Provide Industry feedback to the Authority.
- Inculcate upon Industry stakeholders safety prerequisites and procedures.
- Proposal and Revision of Standards;
- Proactively research, develop and propose specific standards to be applied in the area of airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft.

Requirements
- A Grade 12 and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License a related trade in Aviation Maintenance Environment .
- Have the relevant knowledge, background and appropriate experience related to aircraft continuing airworthiness management.
- 8 Year(s) Experience as aircraft Maintenance or Airworthiness Safety Oversight Regulatory Oversight
