Intermediate PHP Developer - Sanlam Group

We're looking for a talented, passionate Intermediate PHP Developer to work on MiWay’s ever-growing technology stack and applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and developing world-class solutions within a cross-functional team. We're looking for a developer to contribute towards sustainable, intuitive, and functional solutions that meet business needs. The candidate will have an impact on the technical direction of our applications and shape the success of the customer experience.  

Our department’s purpose is to deploy working software, that adds business value, daily. To achieve this, we require team members to be open and comfortable with active participation in reviewing code and standards, supporting production to maintain its stability and have a good problem-solving approach to understand and solve a wide range of issues. What will make you successful in this role?

• 5+ years of working experience as a software developer
• Last previous years of working experience should be as a PHP developer
• At least 1-year working experience in implementing solutions using PHP 7.3.x or higher

• Working experience with JavaScript, VueJs, React, or Angular
• Working experience with Symfony 3+ or other MVC orientated frameworks
• Working experience using Git for code versioning and code reviews in tools like Bitbucket or GitHub
• Good understanding of software development design patterns 

Deliverables include, but will not be limited to

• Plan, design & develop solutions within a team 
• Conduct or assist with code quality reviews of solutions 
• Conduct or assist with troubleshooting and debugging of developed solutions in development and production environments
• Attend and provide input in team and stakeholder meetings relating to technical and architecture requirements 
• Conduct internal knowledge sharing sessions on developed solutions and best practices 
• Contribute towards well documented, quality, tested and reusable code, ensuring development is followed through to completion that is following team standards and the solution specification
