Are you driven, have high energy levels and extremely passionate?

Mr Price Home is on the hunt for an experienced Senior Homeware Buyer.  Your key objectives as the Senior Buyer would be to build a balanced assortment of merchandise which appeals to our customer and ensure maximum profit for your department is achieved.

Reporting into a Head of Merchandise, this high paced role requires your high energy levels and eye for product to develop a product strategy that will ensure the company gains maximum profitability. Collaborate with your merchandise planner who will help you to determine the product strategy for your dept. for the season.

 You will negotiate with suppliers on aspects of price, fabrication and delivery dates. You will also collaborate with other functional areas such as trend and design, quality, resourcing, marketing, visual merchandising and supply chain to enable you to meet your portfolio objectives.                                                                                                                          

 

Responsibilities

1) Awareness of key business objectives

2) A developed understanding of the retail market with an emphasis on homeware
- An informed understanding of the Mr Price Home’s customer

- Competitor analysis
- Pricing analysis
- Retail market analysis
- Relevant macroeconomic indicators, in particular exchange rates and inflation

3) Provide direction and coaching through effective performance feedback and communication to buying team

4) Facilitate a high performance, team-focused environment that is aligned to corporate culture (eg: disciplined in its thinking; responsive to trade; collaborative and passionate for fashion value retail)

5) Empower buying team with knowledge and skills to be effective in their roles and to grow in their career

6) Work closely with the Senior Planner to provide team direction and feedback to management

7) Responsible for partnering with HR to resource team

                                                                                                              

Requirement

1) A relevant Degree or Diploma

2) 5 – 7 years of Buying experience (preferably in Homeware).

3) 1 – 2 years at a supervisory or management level would be advantageous

4) Working experience within a manufacturing or a supplier environment would be highly advantageous
