Duties
-
Helping to manage the implementation of the trial;
-
Assisting the study doctors with the clinical evaluation of participants (adult women);
-
Taking blood samples and performing clinical assessments and clinical research screening activities (e.g. weighing participants, collecting urine samples and conducting rapid testing);
-
Liaising with local Department of Health clinic staff regarding HPTN 084 activities and follow-up care for participants;

Completing data collection forms, including questionnaires;

Recording essential data on the relevant forms meticulously and on time;

Maintaining clear communication channels with the study team and routine clinic staff;
-
Assisting, as required, with administering contraceptives.

Job Requirements
-
A nursing qualification, and registration with the South African Nursing Council;
-
Experience in working with participants/clients of all ages;
-
At least two years' clinical research or equivalent research experience, including performing phlebotomies;
-
Experience and familiarity with administering contraceptive mechanisms;
-
Fluency in writing, reading and speaking English;
-
A valid driver's licence;
-
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a multidisciplinary team;
-
A punctual, well-organised and responsible work ethic;
-
Basic computer literacy;
-
The willingness to work flexible work hours should the project require it.
Recommendation
-
GCP (good clinical practice) training and certification;
-
Proficiency in isiXhosa or Afrikaans (or both).
