Job Purpose
- Representing NPE on specific boards of portfolio companies.
- Engage actively with the relevant portfolio companies’ post-investment, in order to drive and manage performance of the investments.
- Take a pro-active approach to building value and to resolving problems of under-performance and/or non-compliance at portfolio companies.
Job Responsibilities
Forums:
Initial deal screening forum - member alongside Head of NPE (Aim of forum is to apply commercial judgement to ensure that NPE’s deal teams work on the right deals at the right time.

Deal processing forum – member alongside Head of NPE (Aim of the forum is to provide input into key deal issues as the deal team is processing the deal)
Exit forum – member alongside Head of NPE (Aim of the forum is to provide input into timing of exit, exit mechanism, key exit issues as the deal team is processing the exit, setting up auction process)
Strategic activities:
- Mentoring junior team members through on-the-job training.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy for NPE’s private equity investments in SSA
Origination
- Develop and maintain a broad network of potential target companies, co-investors, joint-venture partners, advisers, bankers, non-executive directors, etc.
- Build strong relationships with company management and lead negotiations with companies, management and other investors to conclude successful private equity transactions.
Execution:
- Lead the execution of banner deals.
- While not preparing investment reports, incumbent will be required to communicate the rationale for investing in the target company to the investment committee together with a balanced view of the risks, opportunities and potential financial returns.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
Preferred Qualification
Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst, Masters Degree in Commerce, Sciences, Legal or other relevant field
Minimum Experience Level
8-10 years relevant sector / industry experience
Technical / Professional Knowledge
- Banking procedures
