Position Name: Rigger / Driver
Reports to: Unit Technical Manager
Division: Supersport
Department: Production Operations
Key Customers : SuperSport, Mnet, Multichoice,
Location: South Africa Johannesburg, Randburg
Purpose of the Position:
Safe driving of OB vans to and from the venue and completing the rigging and de rigging activities when required within the Organization and OSH Act procedures
Key Performance Objectives
Tasks
Operational Delivery
- Ensure safe transportation and deployment of OB facilities at venues and stadiums across the country.
- Consider the most efficient and safe travel routes with a clear timeframe in mind
- Is accountable for the full rig on instruction from OB Unit Manager.

- Ensure safe and secure rigging plan is considered with correct equipment deployed at various rig points.
- During live production, is on standby for any potential changes to rig, equipment etc.
- Ensures the OB van is always in sound mechanical condition and safe for transport.
- Ensures that the trip inspection is carried out before every trip
- Ensures that the OB equipment within the facility is maintained and kept in good condition always, to ensure the delivery on productions
- Ensures that rigging and de-rigging is conducted in line Health and safety regulations
- Ensures that the OB vans are managed and maintained in line with the guidelines
- Ensures that the OB vans are managed and maintained in line with the company’s Procedures and health and safety legislation
Communication
- Communicates effectively with the events team regarding parking considerations and challenges.
- Maintains good communication with stakeholders on site (stadium personnel) regarding Parking, obstructions challenges and other identified challenges
- Communicates with stadium management regarding access to do rigging area
- Reports any mechanical fault to the Logistics manager timeously
- Is available for contact/communication whilst scheduled on productions from travel to return
Qualification:
- A Matric Certificate
- EC ZA Driver’s license
Experience
- A minimum 2-3 years’ experience in similar roles
- Rigging and de rigging experience in a Broadcasting environment.
- Driving skill Code
- Live broadcasting knowledge
