This role entails performing the accounting function of group insurance accounts, insurance fund reconciliation, other general ledger account reconciliations and assisting the Financial Manager with ad hoc projects and queries.
Job Objectives
To ensure that all insurance claims and premiums are accurately captured monthly
- Preparation of upload files of all insurance entries to be posted to the general ledger
- Process journals for monthly claims and annual premiums

To ensure that clearing accounts are cleared on a monthly basis
- Follow up on open items in ledger clearing accounts
- Allocate uncleared items to correct ledger accounts
To ensure that insurance fund account balances monthly
- Ensure that the insurance unpaid claim accounts balance to the insurance system reports
- Resolve any unreconciled items by processing correcting journals
To fulfil the responsibility as a B signatory to expense creditors system
- Authorise payments by checking payment advices to the supporting documentation
To assist with monthend and yearend reporting
- Prepare monthly and yearly reports
- Provide feedback on management queries related to reports and recons
To ensure control and reconciliation of ad hoc GL accounts
- Post journals
- Analyse and report on general ledger accounts
Analyse and adjust data before processing into SAP
- Review information exported from the insurance system for accuracy and reasonability before processing it into accounting system
Reconcile prepaid expenses account and post monthly journals
- Preparation of prepaid expense reconciliation
- Post monthly journals from account to relevant expenses
Assist the Financial Manager with new projects
- Assist financial manager with investigation of processes to implement with new projects
- Assist in implementing and testing controls on processes implemented

Qualifications
- Essential B.Comm Financial Accounting Degree Completion of Accounting Articles
Experience
- Accounting (3 5 years)
- Excel & Google Sheets (3 5 years)
- Accounting of insurance (23 years)
- SAP Auditing
Knowledge and Skills
- Accounting
- Reconciliations
- Posting of journals
- Understand assets, liabilities and expenses
- Knowledge of loan accounts
- VAT knowledge
- International Financial Reporting Standards
