Sol Plaatje University was established to provide high quality learning, teaching, research and community engagement activities in a Higher Education context. Based in Kimberley in the Northern Cape, our University is ambitious about its intellectual contributions to and engagements with people in the region and beyond. In developing the academic and administrative capacity of our University, the positions listed below are available and we are keen to receive applications from highly motivated and suitably qualified individuals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, transferring calls and/or taking messages as necessary;
  • Route emergency calls appropriately;

  • Communicate with individuals to inform them of telephone calls;
  • Relay and route written and verbal messages;
  • Place telephone calls or arrange conference calls as instructed;
  • Perform clerical duties, such as typing, proofreading, accepting orders, scheduling appointments, and sorting mail;
  • Provide basic helpdesk assistance where possible for internal queries; and
  • Assist in logging and updating unified call desk queries on the appropriate system.

 

Position Specification

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • 2 Years’ experience in switchboard operations
  • Previous experience in the Higher Education Sector will be advantageous
  • Computer literate
